Lipstick Comparison: The Face Shop VS MUFE VS Clinique

Back in July, I did a little cosmetics shopping spree and picked up a couple items here and there. I received my Sephora birthday gift (with the Make Up For Ever mascara and lipstick samples) and also bought a few things from The Face Shop.

The lipstick from MUFE and The Face Shop ended up being quite similar in shade, so I decided to do a mini review and comparison post, rather than focussing on each product on its own. Then, a few weeks ago, I bought a mini Clinique Chubby Stick from Jenn of A Beautiful Zen. The colour was a rosy pink, so I figured I'd add this one too.

So let's dive in!

I bought The Face Shop's Black Label Lipstick in Grace Pink. It's a rose shade, though it looks rather coral in the photo above, and turns out to be an MLBB shade on me. As you can see, it's been pretty well-used already. Formula-wise, it's not exceptional. It doesn't dry out my lips, but it's not hydrating either. One thing to note is that it's really necessary to exfoliate before application. Otherwise, this lipstick really does stick to all the dry bits on my lips.

The MUFE Rouge Artist Natural lipstick from this year's Sephora birthday gift comes in the shade N9 Copper Pink. Since this is a sample size, it's super cute and tiny! I haven't been using it at all, only because it's almost the same colour in the tube as Grace Pink. It's also recommended that it's applied with a lip brush, but I like my lippies intense and I'll probably just go straight from the tube.

The Clinique Chubby Stick Intense I bought from Jenn is in the shade Roomiest Rose. It's a warm rose colour and leans a little more red than the other shades. I used to have another Chubby Stick in Mightiest Maraschino, but I ended up returning it after a few uses because it never set on the lips properly. I don't see that same issue with this one. It does stop transferring everywhere at some point, but it's by no means a stain.

I didn't realise there was so much glare in this photo, but the colours are pretty accurate.

So it turns out that Roomiest Rose is not too similar to the others, which means I can justify buying it! It's a lot more saturated and darker. Grace Pink is more pink than N9, which looks a little peachy in comparison. I do think that Grace Pink is closer to my natural lip, but the formula on the MUFE lipstick feels smoother. I also use Grace Pink a lot because it would hurt my wallet less if I had to replace it.

None of these are identical to each other, so I'm glad that each is in my collection! They're also all shades I would use frequently throughout the year. Does it sound like I'm justifying owning several lippies?

The Face Shop's Black Label lipstick retails for $7CAD. Make Up For Ever's Rouge Artist Natural lipsticks retail for $23CAD for the full size. Clinique's Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm retails for $19CAD for the full size.
