2014 Empties

I've only started collecting empties to do posts on them in October, so it's a bit of a small one. But nonetheless, it's basically the end of the year so I'm writing up the post anyway!

There's a mix of both make-up and skincare in here, along with some fragrance samples.

First up is the Garnier Pure Control Deep Pore Exfoliating Cream Scrub. Basically, this is my daily night face wash, and I've gone through a tonne of these. I think I've been using this since it first came out, or for at least 2 years. It's a harsher exfoliant than most and does contain salicylic acid, and I use it because it's been really successful in keeping my skin clear. I still get stress- and hormone-related breakouts, but my skin's clearer than it's been in years! Again, a rather harsh exfoliant, so I don't recommend using it twice a day.

A friend gave me two Lancome Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Removers, in the mini size. I think she got them as free samples during a promotion, but since she doesn't wear make-up much, she handed these two to me. As far as make-up remover goes, I rather liked this one! It got rid of my make-up quickly and easily. The only thing is, like all oil-based make-up removers, you have to shake it before you use it. It tells you that on the bottle, though.

I finished up two of my Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio pencils. They're the black and pewter pencils from the Nude Eyes set, and I've already replaced them with a backup I'd gotten earlier this year. These are the 5th and 6th pencils from PF that I've finished up entirely, if that's any testament to how much I love them.

When I went to The Face Shop, I got this Aura Color Control Cream, which contains SPF 30. I think it was in the Light shade, but I don't remember. There was enough product for me to have used it three times, and I stored it in a little make-up sample container after I opened the packet. I found this CC cream really heavy and oily for some reason. The first time I used it, I didn't find it that bad but it definitely was way too heavy for a CC cream the second day. The colour match was also a little off (it was too light for me), so I ended up just tossing out the little bit left. I prefer medium to full coverage foundations anyway, so I doubt I'd purchase this.

One of the things I'm throwing out is the Maybelline Fit Me! Pressed Powder in 220 Natural Beige. I just really didn't like this powder. I'd gotten it to set my foundation, but it was so hard to pick up any product on my brushes! Colour's a great match when I swatch it with my finger, but other than that, I don't see any good points.

Another item I'm tossing is the Sephora Collection Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 01 Black. This is the old formula before Sephora discontinued it, and it's not waterproof. This was the one I was using when I had the mishap back in September. Nice matte finish, easy to apply, but not waterproof. It's also really annoying remove because it smears everywhere first and little "strings" of black liner get onto my eye. There's still a little bit left in the bottle, but I don't know what I'd use it for.

Finally, fragrance samples! I've had this Clinique Simply sample for ages. It's in a lovely packaging because I got it in a make-up set (which I received as a gift). Scent-wise, it's such a perfume scent to me. I don't know how to describe it, but it's the "traditional" perfume, like it'd be the kind of perfume I'd think of when I think about perfume. I'm awful at describing scents, but it's a nice fresh scent that I do like. Even if it does remind me of my grandma (she loved Clinique, so this isn't a far bet by any means).

The other fragrance sample is I think the Coach signature scent. I got this one from my aunt, who happens to like Coach fragrances. It's really heavy to me, a bit musky but sweet as well. The nozzle's broken, so I spilled it all over myself, so this is why there's still a bit left. (Not that you can see it in the photo. Oh well.)

So that's it for this time! I'm tossing these out for real now, and starting my empties collection from scratch again.

  1. Yeah, agree with you on the face shop cc cream. Wouldn't purchase the full size, but it's actually an ok concealer.

    1. Oh, I hadn't thought of using it as a concealer! But it's too late now and it really left a bad impression on me.
